Venture funding is in a state of flux -- it is an increasingly competitive industry, and it is an industry that is no longer a black box. Funds are receiving a higher degree of scrutiny from their investors as well as their investee companies and they have to be stronger and better equipped to compete than ever before.

- What makes a good venture capitalist in today's market – an examination from the limited partner and entrepreneur’s perspective?
- How have things changed in raising money for new funds -- who is putting money into the funds and how has that changed? What does the future of funds for venture capitalists look like?
- What are the lessons to be learned from the past several years for the venture capital community itself and where will it take us (the juxtaposition of some of the traditional experienced venture capitalists and the difficulty of the venture capitalists who were created in the last year who may be ill equipped to handle the down turn, etc.)?
- New opportunities that arise, for example the changes in the perception and reality of technology as a sector bring new funding options (Marcus Venture Consulting is increasingly being asked to assist traditional funds that tended to invest primarily in traditional sectors to expand their portfolio mandate to include tech-enabled opportunities, thus drawing on their sector experience and successfully mainstreaming the technology sectoring and boosting their own sectors as well.) Also, exciting new opportunities have emerged in post-conflict areas - Marcus Venture Consulting has the expertise and resources to assess the political, economic, and cultural risks and rewards associated with investing in these areas.
