Only Connect: Has the communications revolution transformed our lives?
Has the increasing amount of communications technology – from email to mobile phones actually made our lives better? Have the new forms of communication increased the amount we communicate, or have they merely replaced the old methods? If so, what good has this done for our lives? Does the fact that we can now communicate glabally as easliy as we can with our neighbours mean the world is a smaller place, or can the rise in nationalism be attributed to a reaction to too much talking and not enough understanding?
Speakers:
- James Crabtree, Work Foundation
- Adrian Askew, Connect
- Professor Anthony Giddens, LSE.
- Session chaired by Sunder Katwala, General Secretary, Fabian Society
